Motorola Edge 50 Neo Specifications

Enjoy elevated entertainment on an advanced 6.4″ pOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate. The Super HD (1220p) resolution ensures that you always have a clear, vibrant picture with sharper detail and less pixelation. Indulge for longer as the advanced LTPO technology matches the speed of your display with the speed of your content, preserving battery.

Design & Display

This new handset from the Lenovo-owned brand runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset and features a 50-megapixel Sony Lytia camera. The Motorola Edge 50 Neo has a 6.4-inch LTPO OLED screen which is claimed to deliver up to 3,000 nits peak brightness. The latest handset has an IP68 dust ad water resistance rating as well as MIL-STD 810H certification.

The rare part of the phone ensures the device holds a good grip while in use, due to the eco-leather material, however, it can easily attract dirt without a device case behind it. Meanwhile, the rear design of this smartphone is also clean with only the camera module and Motorola branding on it.

The cases designed for motorola edge 50 neo are lightweight, durable, and offer reliable protection against drops and scratches. The cases perfectly match the colour of your device, so that style and extra protection go hand in hand.

The rear-mounted camera module is not too obvious, as the leather material has cleverly covered it up leaving the two camera lenses in the thin metal rings with the LED flash accompanying it by the side fully displayed.

Additionally, the 2024 Motorola Moto G Stylus 5G has an earpiece that also doubles as a stereo speaker at the front profile above the front camera cutout, while at the bottom sits the stylus, second stereo speaker, USB-C port, the 3.5mm audio jack and the mouthpiece.

Meanwhile, the right side houses the SIM slot while the left hosts the power and volume buttons. The Motorola Moto G Stylus 5G (2024) has made a notable upgrade in its display technology from last year’s model.

It now features a 6.7-inch P-OLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and a 20:9 aspect ratio, delivering a pixel density of approximately 395 ppi.

The switch to OLED brings enhanced color accuracy, with support for 1 billion colors and a peak brightness of 1200 nits, offering a more vibrant and detailed viewing experience compared to the previous LCD panel.

Smartphones commonly use LCD screens in their displays; however, OLED displays are becoming more common, and are preferred by most smartphone manufacturers. An LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) is a type of flat panel display that uses liquid crystals as its primary form of control.

LCDs are lit with a backlight as pixels are switched on and off electronically while using the liquid crystals to rotate polarized light. Polarizing glass filters are placed in front and behind the pixels, and the front filter is situated at 90 degrees.

LCDs are beginning to be outpaced by other display technologies, but still have a place in the smartphone market. Now, LCDs can be commonly found in budget to mid-tier smartphones- as the OLED is a bit more costly. LCDs have been being replaced in a lot of flagship smartphones by OLED displays, or organic light-emitting diodes.

OLEDs are very flexible in terms of how they can be implemented. OLEDs use a single glass or plastic panel, compared to LCDs which use two.

Camera

A camera smartphone is a device which is able to capture photographs and often record videos using one or more built in digital cameras. The customized sensor of a camera phone arranges pixels in a unique pattern in order to let in more light. Thereby, producing better images that are rich in quality and brightness.

A smaller aperture number means that the camera allows more light into the lens. This is what makes the phone camera better. The 2024 Motorola Moto G Stylus 5G boasts a robust camera setup identical to that of the Moto Edge 2024.

It retains the 50MP main camera from last year’s model but now features optical image stabilization (OIS) for improved stability and sharper images. The primary camera utilizes the Samsung ISOCELL (S5K)GN9 sensor, a 1/1.57″ imager with 1.0µm pixels, and a stabilized 24mm f/1.8 lens.

This sensor, with its Tetra pixel color filter, captures 12.5MP photos by combining four pixels into one for enhanced detail and low-light performance. Meanwhile, a notable upgrade in this device is the new 13MP ultrawide camera, replacing the previous 8MP version.

This camera features a 16mm f/2.2 lens and supports autofocus and macro photography. The ultrawide camera also doubles as a macro lens, providing versatility for close-up shots.

For selfies, the device is equipped with a 32MP front-facing camera with an f/2.4 aperture and 0.7µm pixel size, ensuring detailed and high-quality self-portraits. This camera also supports HDR, improving image quality in diverse lighting conditions.

The camera app includes four basic shooting modes: a flower icon for macro shots, a 0.5x mode for wide-angle captures, a 1x mode for standard photos, and a 2x digital zoom button for closer shots.

The camera hardware is identical between the Edge 50 and the Neo and it’s also shared with the high-flying Edge 50 Pro. This is obviously putting the Neo in the best light of the family as it’s not only the cheapest of the three, but also the most compact.

Stylus Pen

The stylus pen of the Motorola Moto G Stylus 5G (2024) has been upgraded with a thicker profile compared to its predecessor, providing a feel reminiscent of the S-Pen.

The pen features a smooth tip for precise interaction with the touchscreen, although it lacks Bluetooth functionality, serving solely as a touchscreen stylus. Despite this, the enhanced design and intuitive features make it a practical tool for productivity and creativity on the go.

Hardware and Software

The Edge 50 proper runs on a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 AE chipset, which is a rather dated SoC from early 2022. Admittedly, the silicon here is slightly revamped as the main Cortex-A710 cores are now clocked at 2.5 GHz, instead of 2.4 GHz. Hardly of any significant real-world difference, though.

Motorola is particularly proud of its AI smarts too, which seem to be tailored toward better camera experience overall. The moto AI umbrella of features includes AI-aided image processing, adaptive stabilization, 30X Super Zoom and Long Exposure.

Connectivity

The connectivity of a smartphone is the basic building block of any mobile phone network. These cells are arranged to provide large areas of mobile coverage.

Within these cells are mobile base stations which send and receive radio signals to and from mobile devices located in those cells in order to enable their users to connect to the internet and make calls efficiently and effectively.

The connectivity of a phone is the term that refers precisely to the type of technology that allows our mobile terminals to funtion.

Battery

Batteries are small containers of chemical energy. The battery life is a measure of battery performance and longevity. which can be quantified in several ways; such as run time on full charge, as estimated by a manufacturer or as the number of charge cycles, until the end of a useful life.

The two main types of battery in the market today are the li-po and li-ion batteries. These are the popular types of mobile phone batteries among smartphone manufacturers. Although, the li-po batteries are the most advanced smartphone batteries available to end users.
