Experience the evolution of Enterprise VR with the Lenovo ThinkReality VRX all-in-one headset. The immersive, lightweight, slim profile six-degrees-of-freedom (6DoF) VR device is powered by the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ XR chipset and provides full-color, high-resolution pass-through capabilities for mixed reality applications. Lenovo ThinkReality VRX: New VR Headset Unveiled

Lenovo has been very cautious about so-called VR glasses to date. For example, the company recently introduced the Lenovo Legion VR700 in its home country. Like the Meta Quest 2 and Pico 4, this is a true all-in-one VR goggles for the consumer sector. Or to put it more simply: a VR headset for gaming.

Unfortunately, this model is not available worldwide. Although the now-unveiled Lenovo ThinkReality VRX can be considered a similar target group due to the built-in pancake lens, Qualcomm’s VR processor, four 6DoF cameras attached to the front, and two RGB passthrough cameras, Vishal Shah. XR and the GM of the Metaverse express opposite opinions:

“Our customers are looking for reliable, flexible and scalable gateways to the growing enterprise metaverse. They need business-class solutions for hybrid scenarios and the new realities of working in virtual environments. We designed Lenovo ThinkReality VRX to be the VR solution of choice for training and collaboration in the immersive space”.

So the target audience is not gaming consumers, but enterprises. This is a little surprising since Lenovo’s standalone VR headset has all the features users can get from Steam and the Oculus VR App Store as well. However, proud owners of ThinkReality VRX glasses should not spend many hours playing in virtual reality via WLAN. Instead, Lenovo wants to get you into the metaverse. Pass-through technology results in application possibilities that allow the user to superimpose 3D models onto the real world.

Slim, comfortable form factor

The ThinkReality VRX headset incorporates a variety of design advancements to make it more comfortable for extended VR sessions. Innovative “pancake” lenses help keep the form factor slim. The high-capacity battery is optimally positioned for better weight distribution, and the ThinkReality VRX features a unique venting system that channels heat from the display away from the wearer’s face.

Multiple and expanding use cases

With 6DoF capability and full-color, high-resolution passthrough, the Lenovo ThinkReality VRX is ideal for an endless array of enterprise virtual reality and mixed reality applications. From retail, sales, or safety training to construction/mechanical design and many types of simulations, the ThinkReality VRX is perfect for immersive soft or technical skills enhancement and interactive linear experiences alike.

Price and availability

As far as the technical specifications are concerned, the manufacturer is still silent till the actual sale launch, which is planned for late 2022 / early 2023 as well as the recommended retail price. Battery capacity and installed storage space can play an important buying criterion for this self-contained VR glasses.

Wrapping Up

When investing in an enterprise VR solution, organizations need to look beyond the hardware itself and evaluate the long-term implications of partnering with a particular provider. In addition to delivering exceptional 6DoF experiences, the Lenovo Think Reality VRX also comes with something not often found in the VR marketplace — the backing of a global technology leader with a long history of proven innovation.

The Lenovo ThinkReality VRX is built to be the VR solution for workers everywhere. The immediacy and fidelity of new digital tools experienced through extended reality (XR) devices means workforces are becoming nearly unconstrained by time and space.

From improving efficiency in employee training and virtual collaboration to expanding design and engineering tasks in 3D, XR technologies are becoming more important than ever for businesses enabling hybrid workers to do more. VR, in particular, is delivering impressive results in training applications. Businesses are experiencing up to 4X faster training on soft skills compared to classroom training and 275% more confidence in applying skills learned in VR.
