HP Envy X2 Hybrid PC – Tablet Specifications & Price in Nigeria

HP Envy X2 combines an 11.6-inch tablet and a laptop in one package. HP calls it a hybrid PC because of this dual nature. It is built on Windows 8 operating system running Intel’s Atom Processors. HP Envy X2 is a stylish tablet built with an aluminum finishing. It is thin and lightweight and spots a front facing camera and a rear facing 8.0MP camera.

Slide a little tab, and the whole upper lid undocks and becomes its own multitouch tablet. But, at $849, the Envy x2 is more expensive than most ultraportable laptops and tablets, and far more expensive than those little, non-touch-screened, non-detachable-screened 11-inchers of old. It’s also Intel Atom-powered, as opposed to having a far faster Ultrabook-level processor. You’re paying for style, and also for that clever split-function feature.

Design & Display

HP Envy X2’s dual nature means you can use it as a laptop when you want to do more work faster and as a tablet when you want convenience or just want to consume content. In HP Envy X2 you have a multi-touch tablet for easily navigating your content and QWERTY keyboard dock for enhanced productivity.

The tablet is attached to the keyboard dock with a magnetic latch, possibly similar to the one used on the Microsoft Surface. Freeing the tablet from the keyboard is just as simple as pressing a button. Full quality made from attractive brushed aluminum, the Envy x2 has a simple metallic aesthetic that makes it look like an expensive appliance.

The tablet has a sleek silver-colored back that’s tastefully emblazoned with a silver HP logo with the same matte aluminum on its sides as well as on the keyboard dock’s deck, sides and bottom. In a questionable decision, HP has placed both the volume rocker and the power button in the upper left and upper right corners of the back panel rather than placing them on the sides as with most other tablets.

HP Envy X2 comes with a 1.8GHz dual-core Intel Atom Processor (Clover Trail Processor). The tablet features an 11.6-inch IPS display with 1366 x 768 pixel resolution. The display according to HP offers 400-nit brightness. On the rear end of the tablet is an 8 megapixels HD camera. HP Envy X2 also has a front facing camera.

HP Envy X2 spots battery on both the tablet end and the keyboard end. When used as a laptop, this hybrid PC is designed to drain the battery on the keyboard end first, conserving tablet battery in case you want to use it as a stand-alone tablet. Models available in Nigeria so far have 64GB storage; however other storage options may be available in future. You can expand the storage using the microSD slot on the tablet or full SD slot on the keyboard dock.

Inputs/Outputs on HP Envy X2

The tablet features Beats Audio, NFC, USB 3.0, Bluetooth 4.0, and an optional stylus. The keyboard dock spots a USB 3.0 port and an HDMI port.

Take a tablet; add a keyboard. Turn it into a laptop. Do it with full Windows 8. This is the dream of the HP Envy x2, and the dream, it seems, of Windows 8 in general. Break down the barrier between tablets and PCs. Create progressive computing. The future is now. Well, the future was also four months ago, when Hewlett-Packard first started showing off the Envy x2 in public.
