DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY

Aesthetically, the Asustor NAS has a simple and square shape, designed to sit on exposed furniture, as if it were an ornament, as long as it is kept safe from accidental falls and dusty places.

In our test period, we exploited it using hard disks that were supplied to us already mounted inside and we can say that we are satisfied with the results obtained and the capacity of these, this has in fact allowed us to study the maximum potential of the NAS right out of the box. All this, combined with the size, allows us to be able to launch it without delays.

To insert or change the disks it is necessary to disassemble the external part of the NAS using the screws supplied in the package, without even the need to use a screwdriver, given its size and handy shape.

All you have to do is configure the NAS and, once active, it will work independently and at its best, ready to be used remotely or from a PC and to provide us with all its peculiarities.

FUNCTIONS AND PERFORMANCES

The Drivestor 4 features a Realtek RTD1296 1.4GHz Quad-Core 64-bit CPU and handles multitasking with ease using 1GB of DDR4 memory , so any task on an ASUSTOR NAS runs smoothly.

The device contains 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet, doubling the overall value of products that support Gigabit connection. The transcoding of multimedia files supports 4K H.265 10-bit with hardware decoding, which allowed us to experience video playback without stuttering or delays of any kind, keeping everything at a perfectly reproduced quality.

A further plus point is the silence : the series to which the Drivestor 4 belongs, the AS11, produces 19dB of noise, almost imperceptible most of the time; when the device is under full load, 32dB is reached, still a low level when compared with similar products.

In terms of consumption, we have not noticed an increase that is significant enough, giving us hope for long-term use, which we remember is continuously set to function.

The backup functions , which can be programmed to other NAS or external devices, and the ADM protection to protect against ransomware attacks, allow you to store data safely and reliably, being able to exploit 100% of the potential of this NAS.

Protected From Ransomware

The Drivestor comes with the most up-to-date version of ADM to help protect against ransomware attacks. Snapshot Center provides the ability to efficiently create snapshots to protect and easily restore lost data from iSCSI volumes.

Other security features found on the Drivestor are the ability to create one or more replacement administrator accounts, a firewall by ADM Defender that features blacklists and whitelists, the ability to change default ports, disable SSH and Terminal to prevent remote attacks.
